OPENING SONG - Divine Mother

We are gathered together to bless, celebrate and value our uniqueness as women and to share in the experience of the divine creativity and motherhood of God which is now made manifest in our sister (Name). This is a sacred and joyful occasion and we thank (Name) for allowing us to share in it. In this sharing we all become richer. Let us reaffirm our sacred role as women by repeating together the Woman's Creed.

who created woman and man in God's own image
who created the world
and gave both sexes
dominion over the earth.

child of God
chosen of God
born of the woman Mary.

I believe in Jesus
who received anointing
from a woman.

I believe in Jesus who acted boldly
to reject the blood taboo
of ancient societies.

I believe in Jesus
who thought of pregnancy and birth
with reverence.

I believe in the Holy Spirit of God
who like a hen created us
and gave us birth
and covers us with her wings.
